Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient modality for modern times using reflex points on the feet, hands, and face as a gateway to promote balance and healing in the rest of the body. These outward-facing structures are how we experience the world and are believed to be a map of every system, organ, and cell in our body. Based on the concept that all beings contain life force energy and that energy can be hindered due to imbalances in various organs or systems in the body, Reflexology uses gentle pressure on these points to remove blockages and promote the flow of this vital energy.
What is Reflexology?
The therapeutic practice of reflexology dates back thousands of years. It uses intricate maps of the feet that correspond with different parts of the body and is based on the principle that our vital systems can be influenced by applying pressure on specific reflex points on our feet. Today it is a popular and effective complementary therapy that promotes self-healing and balance while offering relief for a variety of symptoms.
Imbalance occurs in our bodies when stress, illness, and injury impede the flow of energy through our vital systems. This imbalance prevents our bodies from functioning at their best. By using therapeutic pressure on reflex points in the feet, hands, and face, a Registered Reflexology Therapist can promote healing and balance within the body and stimulate the
body’s natural relaxation response. By identifying irritated nerve tissue at specific reflex points, your therapist can bring you relief in corresponding areas of your body, helping you achieve homeostasis by bringing you back to balance between all of your systems.
Reflexology can safely be used in conjunction with other treatments. It is natural and non-invasive, and it can be tailored to suit the needs of each client.

What to Expect?
Your comfort and serenity are an integral part of a reflexology session. During your treatment at HÄLSA, Rebecca will help you achieve a deep state of relaxation while nurturing your healing journey. Reflexology is a non-invasive, gentle, and effective treatment that does not require you
to disrobe as only your feet, hands, or face need to be exposed. You should never experience any pain, but some reflex points may be tender. This is simply an indication of where you may be suffering imbalance within your body.
Rebecca will ensure your comfort with pillows, blankets, and a tranquil treatment room. As your Registered Reflexology Therapist, she will take a health history, and she will keep a record of each treatment to track your progress and address any irregularities or discomforts that you are
experiencing.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. If you are booking an additional service at the spa, you will be provided with a robe for your use.
While the immediate benefits of reflexology include relaxation of the mind and body, its primary intent is to support the health of the body’s internal systems. Regular reflexology treatments have the greatest impact on a client’s health and wellbeing, but even one session can relieve stress, stimulate nerve function, improve digestion, and restore energy. Reflexology works beautifully in conjunction with many other healing modalities, including western medicine.
