Our Offerings

Whether you’re heading to a float or simply home from work, even a brief meditation is an excellent way to rest and reset the mind and body. Enjoyable at any experience level, each 30 minute session begins with a brief chat to establish your wants, needs, and skill level, followed by fifteen to twenty minutes of guided meditation in our welcoming meditation room.
If you’re hoping to start meditating regularly, or want to explore an existing practice, Triomind’s intuitive meditation coaching is for you. A blend of discussion and some instruction, coach Rio will help you dive into your meditation routine and figure out what’s right for you. No rigorous postures and no dogmatic principles, your practice will be tailored to you and your needs. Each 60 minute session begins with a lengthy discussion of your practice and any issues or discoveries that may be arising, approached from a broad, philosophically informed, open minded perspective. This is followed by a guided meditation and a brief concluding chat. A great addition to your practice whether once, or on a regular basis.

What is Meditation?
Many people view meditation as some rigorous, impossible, or at the least downright boring act thanks to many misrepresentations and misunderstandings in our culture. This, however, simply isn’t the case. Meditation isn’t even necessarily sitting cross-legged in a darkened room – it can be a walk through the park or a yoga session.
Here at Hälsa and Triomind, we firmly believe that meditation is a fundamental natural technology that is and should always be accessible to all, regardless of mental, physical, or emotional ability. We believe in starting where you are, and working from there.
At its most basic level, meditation is the act of returning home to the here and now, and from that viewpoint observing what arises and fades away in the mind and in the environment. Neither grasping nor pushing away, we learn to see truly and relate joyfully to the totality of experience. Most meditations achieve this using a central point of focus, such as the breath or a mantra, which we return to with a gentle and loving touch when we find ourselves distracted.
Benefits of Meditation
Meditation, being broadly applicable and highly situational, has been shown through history and more recently in neuroscientific laboratories to have a truly astounding range of potential benefits. There are general benefits that arise with any meditation practice, and there are specific practices which can address almost any grievance, frustration, and many medical conditions. Here are just a few notable examples:

Alleviate Negative Affect
We all have something in our daily experience that makes things a little worse, everything from a stressful morning through to chronic pain and anxiety. A regular meditation practice can address many of these maladies, including but not limited to lowering your blood pressure and resting heart rate, reducing stress, managing depression and anxiety, improving sleep quality, improving short and long term memory, easing addictions, and improving our relationship with pain and suffering.
Increase Positive Affect
Meditation can be a boon even in times when all seems well. Meditating regularly can massively boost the good things in life too, such as lengthening your attention span, imbuing greater emotional health, and generating kindness and compassion for even the most difficult people in our lives. Most importantly, meditation fosters savoring. Savoring is the attention to, and total involvement in, positive experiences as they’re happening – and enjoying and prolonging the good feelings to follow.

Meet Your Coach

We’ve partnered with Rio from Triomind Meditation to bring you informed, certified meditation coaching. Over the better part of a decade Rio has established a rigorous personal meditation practice driven by a passion for learning, and applying, everything from Buddhism to quantum physics to western esotericism and beyond.
Rio holds a degree in philosophy from the University of British Columbia, where he focused his studies on the philosophy of neuroscience, mind, and cross-cultural phenomenology, and also served as vice president of the UBC Zen Society. Rio is certified to teach meditation under Itai Ivtzan, PhD, who is a leading Positive Psychologist, Professor at Naropa University, and director of the School of Positive Transformation. Additional study has been done in the field of Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness via the work of David A. Treleaven.
Rio sought certification and later founded Triomind Meditation as a response to the global mental health crisis that the COVID-19 pandemic has left in its wake. Having personally utilized meditation to overcome both chronic pain and clinical anxiety, Rio felt in a unique position to be of aid and comfort for any who felt they may need it. He is beyond thrilled to be partnering with Hälsa to extend these offerings even further.
